Jeff is a United States Coast Guard Licensed Captain. Jeff specializes in fully guided fishing trips for multiple species on a variety of lakes located in the northern half of Minnesota. These lakes include Leech Lake, Lake Winnie, Red Lake, Cass Lake, Lake Bemidji, Bowstring Lake, Sand Lake, Pokegama Lake, Trout Lake, and many more. He is prepared to also put clients on northern pike, crappies, bluegills, largemouth bass, and smallmouth bass. Northern Drift Outfitters is fully insured and offers some of the best equipment on the market today. Over the past few years Jeff has enjoyed getting kids involved in fishing. His background in teaching has gave him the patience needed for the young ones in the boat. Families have came to love a day in the boat where all you have to do is sit back, relax, and catch fish. No matter the experience or skill level, Jeff will put the effort in to make sure your day is one you will not forget!

Ice Fishing
Winter doesn’t stop the NDO crew. Head out on the frozen lakes by snowmobile and side by sides. Larger group sizes available.
Special Note: If more than 5 people are booking through Northern Drift Outfitters additional guides will be added. This can be discussed at the time of the booking.

New Boat Update!

This will be my 3rd Alumacraft 205 Competitor Tiller. My most recent 205 was powered by a 150 Yamaha VMax Sho. This year we will be running the Mercury 175 four-stroke. I am very excited to see what this motor has to offer.
Why the switch? Well, I will keep it short and simple, power steering. I’m talking about the real deal of power steering. I loved my last Yamaha, but the options for power steering on these motors are limited unless you switch boat companies. The Yamaha was rigged with a steering assist unit called Uflex. This unit does help create tension on the tiller handle so your arm doesn’t become fatigued which is very common when operating tiller motors. However, with the amount of time I spend fishing larger bodies of water like Lake Winnie, and the waves that are accompanied by these bodies of water, I was in need of something else. The Mercury power steering system in my mind is the best on the market. It creates a safer and more enjoyable time on the water.
I will be keeping everyone up to date on the rigging of my new guide boat this spring. I hope to offer some valuable insight to anyone who plans on tackling a job like this in the future. Our spring open water guide season is right around the corner. I want to give a big shout out to Grand Rapids Marine located in Grand Rapids, MN. Their customer service is top notch. As a fishing guide in the Grand Rapids area, it is always nice to know that there is a dealership that can help me out and keep me on the water.
